For further information, please contact the parish office 925-778-0768.

Infant Baptism

Infant Baptism is celebrated on the Fourth Saturday of each month except during Lent. Everyone is welcome to bring their child to St. Ignatius of Antioch for baptism. Contact the Parish Office at 925-778-0768 for more details.

Faith Formation for Children

Children of St. Ignatius of Antioch meet weekly during the academic school year. Our program uses the spiral method approach to learning the timeless truths of our Catholic Faith. This approach emphasizes the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which include Faith (Creed), Sacraments, Life in Christ (Morality) and Prayer. They are developed and taught in each elementary grade level. All of our sessions are led by volunteer catechists. They prepare in advance before meeting with their students through prayer, worship and loving service to others. Catechists are offered onsite training, retreats, and workshops in addition to catechist offerings through the Diocese. For more information about this program or to volunteer call the Faith Formation office at 925-778-1631.

Catechists begin each session with the Liturgy of the Word for the upcoming Sunday’s scriptures.

Registration in preparation for these Sacraments should begin in 1st grade.

High School Confirmation

Confirmation preparation begins during freshman year. Older students may attend if they have had a lapse in their faith formation. The Diocese requires that a student attend 72 hours of preparation; therefore, Confirmation is a two year process of learning and service. At this stage of their formation, the youth come to understand that they are making a decision to follow the call to discipleship. At Confirmation, the youth take on the role of adult in the church. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are fully realized and are to be spent in service in our home, our church and in the world. Youth are encouraged and have volunteered as Catechists, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Acolytes and Choir members etc. Currently classes meet on Thursday evenings in the Parish Hall or on Sundays.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

This gentle program is offered on Sundays throughout the year. The children in kindergarten through 5th grade gather with their parents at Sunday Liturgy and are then dismissed by the Presider after the opening prayer. The CLW catechists break open the Word to the cycle of the season according to the church’s liturgical calendar. The children listen and then share their responses to the scriptures. At present, this group meets at the 10:00am liturgy.
